Alt na Croí Pottery was set up in 2005 to provide a range of quality, durable dinner and gift ware for the local and wider market. Owner, Laura Mc Intyre/Mulligan after completing a College Course in Industrial Design at Letterkenny RTC in 1993, went on to serve a three year apprenticeship with a small family run pottery, Celtic Weave China, in Co. Donegal.
She then went on to work with world renowned Belleek Pottery in Co. Fermanagh, being the first and only woman to have worked in the Parian Department in 140 years. She went on to become a Master Craftsman in slip casting and Green Ware Parian China.
After gaining a wide range of experience in her previous roles and marriage to an Achill man she moved to the Island, where after working two years with the long established Achill Island Pottery she set up Alt na Croí Pottery.
A popular range of ware made with semi porcelain slip in a variety of colours inspired by the landscape, offers variety and choice to suit all tastes. The service is available to customise and personalise items unique to an individual or occasion as required.
Achill Island provides a unique backdrop and environment, inspiring Laura’s development of her expanding range! Prospective customers are encouraged to contact Laura to discuss their requirements and ask any questions about Alt na Croi Pottery and our unique range!
