Alt na Croi Pottery was established in 2005 to provide a range of quality, durable dinner and gift ware for the local and wider market. Owner, Laura Mc Intyre/Mulligan after completing a College Course in Industrial Design at Letterkenny RTC in 1993, went on to server a three year apprenticeship with a small family run pottery, Celtic Weave China, in Co. Donegal.
She then went on to work with world renowned Belleek Pottery in Co. Fermanagh, being the first and only women to have worked in the Parian Department in 140 years. She went on to become a Master Craftsman in slip casting and green ware Parian china.
After gaining a wide spectrum of experience in her previous roles and marriage to an Achill man she moved to the Island, where after working two years with the long established Achill Island Pottery she set up Alt Na Croi Pottery.
A popular range of ware made with Simi porcelain slip in a variety of colours inspired by the landscape, offers variety and choice to suit all tastes. The service is available to accommodate customised requests to facilitate personalised items unique to an individual or occasion as required.
